Big Creek Montana Double Rainbow

Tracks of the StoneBear  ITW 81 = Into the West journey

July 19, 2010

to Polebridge... into the Glacier wilderness

When you leave Columbia Falls, MT... one of the small towns near glacier Nat Pk travel about 15 miles up North Fork road.

The road follows the North Fork of the Flathead river.

Heading North... river flowing South.

A lot of dead Lodgepole pines.

Here at Tracks of The StoneBear one of the rules is... at this age, especially wandering during a journey, take some time to enjoy the day with some extra effort. That means make the extra effort to do things like stopping beside a really beautiful river, walking down to the edge and wading barefoot; I highly reccommend this.

There are some things that you stumble upon and are in awe.

This was heading up to Polebridge, Mt ... on into the Montana wilderness. The Mercantile store was 10 miles north of here. ... the last supply point before going into the wilderness Glacier pk. The jumping off point for Glacier wilderness.

Was heading north up to Kintla Lake camp, the West side of Glacier Nat Park,... the rugged side without all the tourists.  a raw wilderness view of glacier.

This is the North fork of the Flathead River.  We come to Big Creek Camp... Flathead Nat Forest... late in the day... a good stop for overnight camp before the next day.  Stop and find a camp spot... beautiful ... near the river. Spread out on the picnic table and write the journal post for the day.

Mule deer come walking through the camp...  T-bird has the picnic table set with bread and olive oil for a knash before supper; she's good.

Deer wanders through campsite... a moment to connect with the edge... then walk down to the river to clean up.

A brief stop for a river sponge bath and shave in between sprinkles... then... a true phenomenon; a Double Rainbow.

My god is this amazing!

Standing in the edge of the river in awe.

Zoom in... I can't believe how beautiful this is.

By chance had my Cannon Sx120, set down the razor and snapped shots as fast as I could.

This double rainbow lasted less than a couple minutes. You don't get to see this but maybe once in a lifetime. Took as many pix as I could...

This was a phenomenon... Thank you Lord! ... for these abundant blessings.

You never drink twice from the same stream.

Zoom in doesn't capture the colors of these 2 rainbows.

The sound of the river is powerful... my feet are cold standing ankle deep... this is a phenomenal sight.

The left side is starting to fade.

Right side of the double rainbow lasted a bit longer. The whole double rainbow lasted maybe 2 minutes. I was in the right place at the right time... and with my camera.

Then is disappeared as fast as it came up.

And now the video....

I don't delete anything... so these maybe repeat videos.
