Mervin Traywick, AKA Merv, as in "Swervin Mervin", another odd sort, was a Speller. He couldn't talk in a normal sentence without resorting to spelling. A conversation with him was worse than nails on a chalkboard.

While talking with you it would be something like:

I'm going to W-A-L-K to the kitchen and get a C-U-P of coffee.

?Would you like some C-R-E-A-M in your coffee.

Put 32 pounds of A-I-R in the front left t-i-r-e.

He was a speller; ?how else could I describe that?

There were never any long or complicated words spelled which means the level of intellectual conversation was set at a very low bar. This was fairly normal for the Traywicks.

No one knows why Merv became a s-p-e-l-l-e-r. No psychological exam has ever attempted to determine the etiology origins, but it was noted that in elementary school Merv was always the 1st eliminated always on the 1st attempt to spell the simplest word. He eventually mastered the spelling of Cat, Bat, and Rat in high school.

Comprehending the Traywick Clan is difficult. An anthropologist tried several years ago; he recovered at the state mental hospital and now lives at the lake and does needlepoint.

You never drink twice from the same stream.
