Why Hail yeah. .... haven't you ever wanted to say you've been to hell & back? Couldn't pass up being so close to Hells Canyon /Snake river so after talking w/ local 'Lee' said stay on WA side & was spot on. shifted gears & ran w/ it--- the only way. You gotta live in the moment on some stuff. no plan for this just go & see if it's something.
hwy 126 to asotin & into canyon was terraced like grand canyon... only road was all along Snake river... all the way 26 miles & of course... most on dirt -- We don't need no stinkin' paved roads-- road... on into oregon & there was no visitor ctr . went as far as roads would handle.. became too rough.
Snake riv 100 -200 yards wide & fast.. 8mph? flow. Mtn walls were 1,500+ on each side at times... Rock strata formations that were rtreally wildly raw... some volcanic rock in a spot on the riverbank . ... had to have a small rock for the rockpile back home. ?what is home?; where is home?
Saw 4-5 Bighorn sheep on far riverbank. 200+ yards. & at Buffalo eddy's- where river turns & calm eddy makes a pool... PETROGLYPHS in the rock w2alls. across river but search w/ binocs didn't really do very well -- not as accesable as Thermopolis WY petros...
& of course4 had to wade knee deep in river. back to clarkston & head for Walla walla Wa last night
