Haines, Alaska 1 Chilkat.
Haines, Alaska; one of my favorite places in the world.
Drove down the famous Highway from Kluane` National Park, through The Yukon Territory, back into the USA to Haines, ALaska.
Haines is a small town, ALL ALaska towns are small. Outpost, rugged Alaska town. 5 blocks wide 10 blocks long.
Haines Marina is picturesque, quaint and unique. We’ll do some more blog posts on the town soon.
First night in Haines drove down the peninsula to Mud Bay, to Chillkat State Park.
Chilkat State Park is absolutely phenomenal.
The road to get to Chillkat is absolutely horrible. driving on dirt road, pothole Road, at times was 5 miles per hour.
Get to Chillkat and pick a campsite. Overcast Gray, light drizzle, but the campsite is so unique. Alaskan Arctic tundra.
You walk around the campsite. To the Vault toilets, the path is in soft, spongy, arctic Tundra. Like you're walking on shag carpet,or a sponge.
Fir tree canopy, this is a wonderful place. It is an Arctic Tundra woodland Delight.
Gathered up some Squaw wood from down tree limbs, Mini- pine cones, and built a fire in the fire campsite ring. Woodsmoke smells so good out in the wilderness.
Walked around the campsite, Park, and saw some of the glacier snow peak mountains on the other side of the Bay, phenomenal.

Plenty of campsites available, not many people here? This should be full.
Salmon supper again. I didn't think you could get tired of eating salmon, but you can.
You never drink twice from the same stream.
Just because you wander doesn't mean you're lost.
