ITW 42 Same copy / text as Thermopolis -2 June 18 2010 -- just different pics

Such a neat place requires another post. The geologic aura of this place is fantastic. Major geologic changes so close... some changes in just a few miles. Thats Bighorn Canyon /Bighorn River terminus ...out of the mountains into Thermopolis & the plains.

Exiting Wind River Canyon is "Wedding of the Waters" = the only place in the US where a river changes name Mid-Stream from the "Wind River" to "Bighorn River". 2,000' high canyon walls & there are trout in the river & fished some.

The Bighorn River flows right through downtown Thermopolis... right beside Hot Springs st park. The Hot springs are a gift of the Shoshone tribe. 100 years ago when a treaty stole their land... the Shoshone reserved 25% of the hot springs for the public. No charge for the hot springs healing waters. THANK YOU Shoshone !!!

These native American tribes really loved and respected the land and its fruits. Thank you for preserving this wonder for all visitors. Your leadership and vision is noted and respected by many.

You never drink twice from the same stream.
