Yesterday was a relief of a rest day in Sarria although we never seem to rest up 'cause there are so many interesting things to see in town.
0700 came early with aches. stir around & dining room for breakfast.
Dining room is crowded. Many more Camino pilgrims now closing in on Santiago. The tour guide companies book a 1 week 60 mile Camino hike and get a LOT of still working people... that can take a week to 10 days vacation, hike,... & back to work.
Talked with an Irish guy who said they're tired of hearing/ talking about Brexit. And thinks our prez is a nut. So far there is a consensus on this from around the world of Camino friends.
Headed out on the Camino early 0830 and went right back up the famous stairs through town, where we saw the sights yesterday of the cathedrals, & cafe we ate at, the owner was so proud of his Americana artifacts and posters of America. He had posters of Route 66, and Elvis; The King!
Waved bye to the cafe owners as we hiked through town.
is 120' from the Sarria sign,
Past by the monastery de Magdalena.
and we're on the trail in early morning fog. .
The Camino this morning takes us along fields of farmers corn crops
and yes there are horses on the Camino... and it smells! A LOT!
on through chestnut tree woodlands...
beside ranchers grazing pastures for cattle.
fed horse an apple from the pack.
Chestnut tree lined Camino path. Then a short roadside...
Back into the countryside...
After a long day with heavy pack.... come to Casa Morgade for the night.
Checked in. A nice covered patio...
will come back here & write the days journal and postcards.
Time out for a samich w/ olives afternoon knash.
The Canadian Sisters...
Sangria under the canopy
While checking out what little there is here... like the cows in the pasture out back, doing some laundry & hanging it out on the clothesline in back of the patio... T-bird talks some with these ladies and they have a Camino bond and are instant friends.
The ladies were having such a good talk they took it outside for a while with another glass of good Spanish red wine... I think there was a pitcher of Sangria somewhere in there... a lot of comparing Camino notes... and a lot laughter.
Turns out.... these were Sisters,... 2 sets of Sisters from Canada & they hiking the Camino. How neat! I though while hiking; there is not one of my friends that would do this Camino hike with me much less could do the Camino... so this is a really neat for them. Nephew David could have done this w/ me... a retired Marine... the only one. That's one reason I really appreciate partner T-bird for hiking the Camino now.
Water refill station.
I'm looking around at the village water fountain,... the cows out back... and all the ladies are having a ball talking and laughing. I think the bikers were about to come over and ask them to hold it down some.
... and T-bird and the Canadian Sisters are having a wonderful time!
You have many acquaintances on The Camino. Sometimes you just hear "Bien Camino" from another pilgrim passing by wishing you good travels/ good camino. Sometimes you make some good friends. I can't remember the Canadian Sisters names. I just remember they were really neat ladies that we crossed paths with today on The Camino.
Sunset pix out back on the patio
Later on in the dusk I went out on the back patio to get a few pix of the sunset. We've been in the mountains of Spain for several days and the sun went down behind the mountains, not good sunsets.
Today is forming up to be good. Guess what. Some kindred Spirits; a couple of the Canadian Sisters were also sunset photographers. And I learned some photo light framing on panning frame from them.
From here on... the rest of the Camino to Santiago we would cross paths several times with the Canadian Sisters... they were very unique ladies. I, and T-bird especially will consider the Canadian Sisters friends for life even though we will probably never cross paths with them again when back home; safe travels to y'all.
A good day!
You never drink twice from the same stream.
Just because you wander doesn't mean you're lost.
