It's Thursday night 02OCT25 Montgomery, ALabama and we head to the MGMy performing Arts Center to a concert...
Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters concert tonight.
We're not exactly sure what we will hear; ?country?, Pop?, Bar Band?...
Well, it was Hard Rock! NOT Heavy Metal. NOT Punk Rock. NOT smash Rock w/ a mosh pit. It was NOT Headbanger Rock. It was Hard Rock 3 guitars and drums. NO keyboard.
The warmup band was the same, 3 guitars and drums. They played their own music; no music copied/ rendition.
Billy Bob and The Boxmasters were the standard; they played THEIR music. No Stand by your man. No By the Time I get to phoenix. No Let the Good times Roll. They played Their Music- Hard Rock. And they had a lot of fun doing another concert.
They have been playing for ~20 years~ so... they do this for fun in the off season...? They have opened for ZZ Top. We all like to see Billy bob do the movies film stuff. Sling Blade, Friday Night Lights, Bad Santa, U-Turn didn't require acting, and Landman most recently... we love the screen / film but this was a night to see how he and the band chill out and have fun. it was a good night.
At the end of the concert Billy bob called everybody down to the stage row, AND worked the stage row of concert goers!!!!!! He was genuine speaking, shaking hands, fist bumping, talking with EVERY person their. Well,... He's a Southern boy, Arkansas,... we treat our friends with hospitality and respect; Billy bob is a good steward of Southern values! If he didn't treat his guests with Southern hospitality and respect... his grandmon would have sent him out to cut a switch.
It was a good night. A good concert night; I'm glad I got to see and hear Billy bob Thornton The Boxmasters! They are Rockers!
Now , the closing of this post is not so good. As me and T-bird walked 2 blocks on Commerce st. to our parking lot @ 11pm, we saw MGMy police near the park Fairground and on street intersections. We felt 100% safe in downtown Montgomery ALabama at 11 pm.... but a few minutes later... 30 minutes later... right where we walked to our car...
... A shooting. 2 dead, 12 injured. These tragedies have got to stop. as of today 27OCT25 4 have been arrested. This gun violence has got to stop.
A wonderful concert night, where we are all happy... destroyed by a gun shooting. America... we need to get our priorities in order. We're better than this.
