Hiking The Camino de Santiago in 2019, St James way, the trail James hiked to Santiago when The Apostles went their own way after the crucifixion, was one of my better journeys in a lifetime. While in Ragusa, Sicily, by chance walked into this out of the way Cathedral. Recognized the scalloped sea shell, and The St James Cross... symbols of The Camino marking the way- the trail. Young priest told me Yes, this was a stop for Pilgrims on the way to Santiago; this was on one of the many routes to Santiago. I thin I was supposed to find this. Wiki: The Church of San Giacomo Apostolo (Saint James the Apostle). The church was built in the 13th or 14th century, probably between 1283 and 1392, by the will of the Chiaramonte family – the Aragonese eagle above the high altar indicates that period.

Over the last 7,000+ years Sicily, THE crossroads of The Mediterranean, Every tribe, army, king, warlord, religion,... The Phoenicians, The Carthaginians, The Turks, The Romans, The Muslims, The Spanish, French, even the Normans, ALL came and war-ed/ conquered for 100s of years, and of course The Greeks. This UNESCO site at Agrigento, this Temple of Concordia built in the 5th century BC is the best preserved of 7 ruins.
