Molly Tuttle Trio via Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives
It's August 7th, 2026 in Birmingham, ALaBAMA. The term "dog days of summer" refers to the period of extreme heat that occurs when Sirius, the Dog Star, rises with the sun, which historically was believed to contribute to the hot weather. This period typically runs from July 3 to August 11 each year in the Northern Hemisphere.
So when you walk outside, it's HOT! 96* heat; Heat index of 105*+... then the humidity does a pimp slap on you.
It's HOT... and you look for some inside something. HOT DAMN; Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives(*see below) are playing at The iconic ALABAMA Theater(**see below); get some tickets asap.
Friday night in Birmingham, ALA and we're ready for a good concert. I've been a Marty fan since watching his 30 minute show on cable.... but... the concert tonight was absolutely wonderful.
If I had to describe in one word; TALENT ! ... Excellent musicians, ALL talented that put on a show... it's hard to describe how good it was... and I've been to some 250+ concerts in my life. (I'm an old rocker from way back,... growing up in Birmingham in the late 50's doo wop, then the 60's music,... you know,... back when the universe really stood for something.
What I didn't know was the opening/ warm up band. The Molly Tuttle Trio... Molly Tuttle on acoustic/ electric guitar, Vanessa McGowan playing a stand up "dog house" bass, and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes on fiddle was beyond fantastic. Once again... TALENT ! Musical artist talent; my god were they good.
Molly grew up in California and her dad played Bluegrass Banjo and she learned Bluegrass music early. Now Nashville based she plays a country bluegrass based, rockabilly, plays and sings a fantastic music concert show. Molly has long flowing hair,... 1/2 way in the concert she throws it off; Molly has Alopecia Areata causing hair loss on the scalp. Her musical spirit is electrifying. The Trio play their own music and a couple of oldies to remember..."You Never Know", and "White Rabbit".
The Molly Tuttle Trio... Cosmic Twang Guitars on Fire... If you get a chance to go see them... Grab it ! Get the tickets, Go. It's a good evening !

Now, * Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives... At the start of the main headliner act an announcement was made NO electronic pictures, recording... I'll respect their request... is why the 1st part of this blog was about Molly. The show/ concert Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives put on was absolutely fantastic!!! Great music, country Texas rockabilly, a mix of some ballads, bluegrass mandolin pickin',... They had the house rockin'.
Marty played Acoustic/ electric guitar, some mandolin, Cousin Kenny Vaughan is one of the best lead guitars I've ever heard; just knock you down musical rhythm good. Harry Stinson on Drums kept the band on jumpin' musical beat along with Brian Glenn laying down the pulse with his Doghouse standup string Bass. These guys were- once again- sheer musical talent!!! I don't care if you're Hard Rock, Hip Hop, Headbanger, or Opera... You would like this concert. !!!
Now there's some video of Molly, and Marty playing Mandolin. I didn't hear any restrictions of pictures/ video during the Molly warm up... so that's why I have bit of Marty playing. I don't want to break the rules here.

** THE Historic Alabama Theater, THE ICONIC Alabama Theater, Birmingham ALABAMA is one of the most beautiful showcase theaters left in the USA. The Showplace of the South since 1927.
Built in 1927 by Paramount Studios as an Alabama showcase for Paramount films.
The Alabama Theatre was used primarily as a movie palace for 55 years, with the exception of the annual Miss Alabama pageant and the weekly Mickey Mouse Club. Cecil led the transformation of downtown's Alabama Theatre from a struggling movie palace into a successful performing arts center. It is a wonderful multi event theater; classic films, theater plays, concerts, ect... THE ALABAMA Theater is fantastic! The new Alabama Theatre for the Performing Arts hosts many live events, as well as films. Each year the Theatre hosts over 150 events attended by a 150,000 Birmingham area citizens.
