Lulu Bell Columbia Glacier egress 4.
We've traveled, sailed 40+ miles through Prince William sound into the phenomenon of seeing the Columbia Glacier.
I can feel and hear the bumps of the the field icebergs bumping on the bow, bump thump, bump, as we is ease out at 3 to 4 knots.
Steady As She Goes, 3 to 4 knots egress out of the icefield icebergs. Beautiful blue sky, Sun glistening off the iceberg's. When the sun is right it hits the icebergs and you can see the blue ice as we passed by.
Steady As She Goes 3 to 4 knots. I can here the bumps of the icebergs on the bow as we slowly slip by an egress.
We get by the larger icebergs, begin 2 come out of the icefield Iceberg flow,. and Captain Fred put the fuel to these huge twin diesel engines, some 750 horsepower.
and begin to put the Columbia icefield glacier to our rear having just seen this phenomenon.
750 horsepower engines, dual diesel twin screws cranking away we leave the Columbia glacier.
Felt good for this old Marine to put to sea again. I really like it when I can get a good piece of equipment under me and push it. Push it up to it’s limits. I mean push it baby ‘til she screams. Gimmie all you’ve got… This old Marine still has two speeds; idle, and wide open; the only way to live.
The View of egress is just as powerful going out.
This was one of the best days of my life. standing on the bow I say a prayer and thank the Lord for being able to see this phenomenon.
this was a good day.
Of the days of this journey, this Odyssey of walking around the Sun 66 times, this was one of the best.
You never drink twice from the same stream.
Just because you wander doesn't mean you're lost.
