"Top of the World Highway" Hwy 9, The Yukon Territory.

We left Dawson, Yukon, pronounced DaaaawwwSon, The Yukon Territory.  That's the famous Dawson City of the Klondike gold Rush, not the quitters at Dawson Creek, not those mother scratchers who quit and settled down rather than going 600 miles more north up into the Klondike Gold Rush/ gold fields country.

Dawson, The City. The city that never sleeps.

In Daaaaawwwson, there are real gold miner prospectors working gold mining claims.

You see a hand painted sign "no trespassing"... those guys will shoot you down as a claim jumper; and win. This is still the last frontier. Gold mining claims are serious business here.

Rode the ferry across the Yukon river up onto Hwy 9 and headed out on The "Top of the World Highway".

The Top of the World Highway is maybe 50 miles south of the Arctic circle. At times it is literally touching the heavens.

This is the only real way to cross over into Alaska.... to see it on the path the pioneers used.

To call it a road, a highway, is really stretching it. it is mostly primitive dirt road. Mostly rough dirt pothole road.

81 miles took 8 hours plus. and we come out at Chicken Alaska, a real nowhere of the world. A remote outpost town is exaggerating. see another post on Chicken.

You think you have seen vast wilderness, I beg your pardon, this is vast Wilderness beyond what you can comprehend. There is no safety net here. There is no backup. You are own your own.

All day I saw Maybe five or six other vehicles.   Do not break down on this road.

I would not recommend this road for the faint of heart. I would not take anything for seeing the view from The Edge that I saw. The view from the edge suits me fine. Take some repair tools with you on this road. If you want to understand alone, on your own, in this universe.... go here.

You never drink twice from the same stream.

Just because you wander doesn't mean you're lost.
