Steveson 4   Marina Docks

You've already read the previous posts of how much fun it is to go down to Steveston, BC for an evening Northwest Pacific seafood dinner ... that was killer good. A lot of fun in the restaurant.

The restaurant balconies overlook the marina docks.

Then after walked 100' and down the boardwalk ramps to the Steveston marina. It's wonderful!

picturesque yes,... take you camera.

There's about 150+ boats of local fishermen. 30 to 40'+ boats and the captains and crews,... all local fishers... have their catches iced down... out on display for sale. Salmon, steelhead, grouper, ect... all caught and fresh; for sale! like 12 hour fresh...

... and it smells fresh. 24" 18lb salmon for sale... the same seafood the restaurants are buying and serving. That;s why the dinners are so good. You can buy the same seafood right from the local fishermen.

If I could have figured out how to get a 20lb salmon onto the plane back to Alabama... wondered about a dry ice pkg ect...

The fishermen were back in from the Pacific, still in their fishing slickers. most sipping on a beer after a hard 2 days at sea...

I know there are other marinas and it's universal to see a catch on the docks... It's good here at Steveston.

These pix are poor quality because the sun had gone down and this was the available streetlights light for pix.

Walk all through the docks. Much for sale... sea urchins ect...

Then walk around to the western end of the docks and there are some really big fishers... 125'? 20 Ton? ... I don't know how to measure but these were some serious ocean going ... ?Ships? ?Boats?...

The restaurants were good but now to see the cannery row end of the docks is a treat.

the cannery row museum of Steveston was closed... it's 9pm now.

These pix are poor quality because the sun had gone down and this was the available streetlights light for pix.

But you really get the feel/ a glimpse of the Northwest Pacific fishing fleet and this is a really historical place.

When you get to Vancouver, BC... take a day/ eve trip to Steveston. It's  unique... and when you get to read about the Japanese fishing workers community and history of Steveston... it's a really unique place.

Glad I got to see this!
