To Hope, BC

Tracks of the StoneBear  BNF = Banff, BC/ Alberta journey

ROF = Ring of Fire journey

British Columbia/ Alberta, Canada

August 2014  BNF 2

Hope, British Columbia

Hope, BC has some unique places. It's an interesting town.

Driving hard on the ALCAN CAN HWY 1 from Vancouver, BC East...Dodge 200 driving hard...

Past Abbortsford...   traffic still... can see the mountains to the East/ right...

Haulin' ass on the hwy to get onto Banff.

Getting into the flavor of Canada...unique sights.. on into Canadian forests....

And come to Hope, BC.

Main drag and I see big light brown river on the left. Glimpses of fishermen on the banks casting out.

Down the main drag and at the end there is a "yeti" campsite sign.  pull in... check out... Camp sight right on the river. Wind is 30+ .

drive back up through town and it's main street and 12 blocks...

hunt for the B&B.

Come to Evergreen B&B. Paul... nice guy. check in... room for the night.  Paul says to check out the flood zone.

We went down to the end of town... city park.... where the Coquailla river empty's into the Fraser river.  ... fantastic!!!

About 100 yards of round rock riverbed with the crystal claer Cocuhallia river joining/ confluence into the brown Fraser River.  I still didn't understand the significance of The Mighty Fraser River... and how the Fraser River Valley was such a historical part of British Columbia and the importance of development back to the Hudsons Bay Company in this colonial region of western Canada.

Beautiful mountains surrounding... some snow-caps... wind at 25 + ...

Blue sky w/ some white clouds...

Back to downtown.... this is an artist town...

many artistic sculptures on every block downtown.
some carved in wood. .. some sculptures in metal/ bronze??  it wwaas a unique place...

City park had a huge wooden bear sculpture ... maybe 9' tall... magnificent!!!!

At the end of the streets were views of towering snow capped mountains.

About a 20 block downtown grid. The mighty Fraser river running south on the west side of town...

1st look & this is a unique place.  Tomorrow will scout out and see the details.

Right now... a LOT of truck traffic through town. This is a main gateway/ funnel/ convergence to the Yukon and North to Alaska.  A lot going on & through here.
