Camino de Santiago 5 Villafranca to Ambasmestas
Original post: Camino de Santiago 5 Villafranca to Ambasmestas
Camino day 5 Villafranca to Ambasmestas... 9.6mi
Long hike today, get moving early.
Roadside trail for the start.
The Way is marked w/ the yellow clam shell symbol.
Small village of Pereje.
Packs off rest time. Today is a long hump on the Camino 9.6mi
These guys were helping their buddy in the wheelchair do the Camino. The orange straps are to keep the wheelchair from rolling away down the hill. These guys were really something to admire. They made sure their buddy could experience the Camino; that's some support crew!!! My hats off to you fellas. Well Done!
Coming into this small village are stacks of lumber?
The Way is marked.
A few more miles .... packs off. Samich time.
Hiking out of town here is the sawmill
Another small village
All villages, hamlets, no matter how small has an Iglesia/ Church.
Pilgrim statue coming into Valcarce.
Hamlet cappela/ chapel
Downtown Ambasmestas.
Afternoon knash of patatas oli.
After a knash/ afternoon snack walked up through the small town for the daily scouting to see what's there.
There is a local queseria here. Late afternoon, time to bring in the goats from grazing pasture.
And got a peek in the dairy.
1/2 pound of fresh made cheese 4euro, a bargain. For the next few days we'd have a Camino snack of local bread, olives, and this cheese. I could get used to this place.
Dinner begins w/ local bread, olive oil, and vinegar. Yo amore Espan~a

You never drink twice from the same stream.
Just because you wander doesn't mean you're lost.
