Pictou , Nova Scotia To PEI- Prince Edward Island # 2

Ferry to PEI # 2

A couple days in Pictou, Nova Scotia was good. Rested up at Caribou - Munro Provincial Park / camp on the Northumberland strait. After some last minute supplies in Pictou and a short time fishing for makerel, head to the ferry to PEI. Finally to PEI - last leg of this maritime journey.

About 4 miles out to the ferry.... arrived at 2;15 and lined up in row 8 in between tractor trailer 18 wheelers waiting on the dock.

They started loading and in about 20 minutes went aboard on the #1 level deck in the rear.

This is the MV -- Marine Vessel "Holiday island". .... a 300' 2,775 ton vessel / ferry that runs from Pictou to Woods Islands, PEI about 20 miles across the Northumberland strait every 3 hours.

The seas are calm... far different from the Blue Puttees ferry over to Newfoundland. The MV Holiday is 40 years old.... decks painted green -- some red. Passenger seating and a cafeteria-- complete w/ Fries WITH gravy... a maritime standard.

A pleasant sailing for an hour over to Woods Islands port, PEI. A nice sea breeze up on deck. Pleasant calm seas... a fun ride except for passing by the lounge singer playing for tips... listening was like screeching on a chalk board.

Woods Islands port... Lighthouses.... into port.... get below and drive off to the adventure of PEI.
