Wind River Canyon Boysen reservoir to Thermopolis Wyoming

This leg of the journey up through central Wyoming just keeps getting more amazing. Around every curve and over every rise... the unique sights of geography are captivating.
Immediatly after leaving Boysen reservoir heading north on hwy 789 / 20 , on the left / west side of the road you're following the Wind River. Within a few miles you go into Wind River Canyon. For about 15 to 20 miles Wind River Canyon is paralyzing.
Wind River is right beside the road... flowing actually northward direction. Immediatly leaving this canyon , about 4 miles to Thermopolis, the Wind River actually changes names to "The Bighorn River". Only river in the US to change names midstream. -- This flows on up north to the Bighorn mountains for the namesake--.
Rock cliff walls in the canyon are 1,500' + straight up in most places. The Wind River is really fast moving ... ??? 200' wide??? depth??? not shallow. A train track on the other side/ west of the river winds along & a couple of Union Pacific freighters pass ... really neat to see this . Got to stop and look in awe at this canyon. Powerfull!
The wonders of the land! ... the suprise; none of this was planned. ... & the day is not even over. Thermopolis, Wyoming is on the exit of this canyon... there are thermal Hot Springs there?
