There is a term in the Marines... Closing with the enemy... going up on the line....
Closing with the objective.... the purpose of your advance.
Croagh Patrick is not the enemy.... it is the objective of this trek in northern Ireland; to climb Croagh Patrick.
Driving up r335 through the west of Connemara NPK we came to Louisburg.
Walking around Louisburg went to the Westview hotel/ bar/ pub.
At the entrance took this pic... 8 miles away of Croagh Patrick.
Zoomed in w/ all the camera had.
Look close. The white dot on the top of the mountain is the chapel.
Didn't realize it then when took this pic but... This was the objective... closing w/ the enemy/ objective. Next day was the assault; the climb.
This climb, assault was not for the faint of heart.
But we closed with the objective and made it happen.
This is the chapel on the peak of Croagh Patrick.
To have made it here... Thank you Lord! This was truly a gift of life!!!
